Mario leads the Telecommunications Industry for IBM in Europe to support Telecommunications and Media companies facing today´s challenges to transform themselves into “Digital Service Providers” and to run more agile and leaner operations. Mario Leverages the full breadth and depth of IBM investments in technology, services and research to support clients across Europe, specifically building a solutions portfolio and related supporting labs, developing partnerships with Service Providers, and with Independent Software Vendors, while deploying a specialized team that engages in Analytics, Commerce, BSS/OSS, Cloud, Video Services, Mobility Services and Network Optimization and Transformation projects. Mr Cavestany has also led IBM’s Consulting services business for the same industry for the Southwest Europe region.
Prior to 2003, Mario led Telecom, Media and Energies & Utilities Industries for Latin America. Before that, since 1999 to 2001, he was based in IBM´s HQs in New York, developing the IBM´s Global Strategy for the Telecommunications Industry and launching the worldwide Digital Media and Wireless e-business Solutions units.
Mario joined IBM in 1985 running since then multiple technical, sales and marketing positions within the Telecommunications Industry teams.
Mr. Cavestany completed studies in Telecommunications Engineering at MadridPolitechnicUniversity and in Business Management at MilanBocconiUniversity and London School of Economics and is member of the IBM´s Global Telecommunications Industry and Europe Industries leadership teams
